The task of maintaining digital artworks is a complicated one. The different forms it can take – in programming language and the required wares for viewing the different languages and formats – are so vast that to create a singular institution or organization which could be capable of preserving the art and consequently in preserving the technologies would be a huge and complicated task. As would the maintainance of the online status of many works, some of which could be limited due to the informations they reference and consequent systems there after.
It is as such that I would like to make a theoretical investigation into the possibilities of a networked institution between organizations which would take specific roles in the tasks of preservation and maintainance of digital art.
The first question here may be one of the division of digital art into different forms which could individualy be practicaly managed.
